State Secretariat for Kin-State Policy
Since 2010 national policy is steered by the Deputy Prime Minister responsibility for Kin-State Policy. In the new system set up after the 2010 elections the State Secretariat for Kin-State Policy within the Ministry of Public Administration and Justice became the custodian of national policy, headed by a Deputy State Secretary. Following the 2014 elections the State Secretariat was transferred to the Prime Minister’s Office and the department is headed by a State Secretary. For kin-state policy, the State Secretariat for Kin-State Policy is responsible primarily, but all ministries have national policy competences (economic development, care of war graves, protection of historical monuments, support for families beyond the borders, etc.). The State Secretariat for Kin-State Policy coordinates the tasks and formulates the strategic goals related to national policy, prepares government decisions and legal regulations affecting Hungarians beyond the borders, and maintains contacts with political, interest representation, church, educational and civil organisations of Hungarian communities. The State Secretariat for Kin-State Policy oversees the aid system for Hungarians beyond the borders.
