Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány)

Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) is an independent, non-profit organization with the aim of supporting ethnic and national minorities in Europe, with particular emphasis on supporting Hungarian communities beyond the borders. The organization seeks to contribute to a more effective protection of national minorities in Central and Eastern Europe. The scope of its activities is extensive, encompassing summer universities, professional events, conferences, festivals, and a foreign policy discussions. Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány), jointly with the Hungarian Youth Council (Magyar Ifjúsági Tanács), organizes the Bálványos Summer University and Youth Camp (Tusványos) taking place annually in July. The event features numerous well-known and respected politicians and experts as speakers. Over three hundred invited lecturers deliver talks at twenty-eight locations, attracting an average attendance of eighty thousand participants. In collaboration with the Moldvai Magyarok a Moldvai Magyarokért Association, Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) organizes the traditional Csángó Ball every February. This event aims to showcase the rich and unique folk art and traditions of the Moldavian and Gyimes Csángó Hungarians to both domestic and international audiences. The legacy of Csaba Lőrincz is preserved and nurtured by the Lőrincz Csaba Award, established by Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) in 2009. This award recognizes the outstanding foreign policy activities of scholars, experts, writers, and journalists. Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) publishes a variety of works. Initially in collaboration with Osiris Publishing, and currently with the Méry Ratio Publishing, Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) publishes the Pro Minoritate book series. Each of the twenty-one books released so far addresses minority policy or the issues surrounding minority existence. Pro Minoritate Foundation (A Kisebbségekért – Pro Minoritate Alapítvány) releases the quarterly journal ‘Pro Minoritate’, with its inaugural issue published in 1991. The journal covers the political and cultural life of Hungarians beyond the borders, the histories of neighboring countries’ peoples, and their current aspirations.
