Roundtable of Hungarians in Slovakia
The Roundtable of Hungarians in Slovakia is an open, politically independent, voluntary, and informal institution that serves as a coordinating forum for Hungarian organizations in Slovakia. The collaboration operates within informal frameworks, based on voluntary participation and shared responsibility. Any cultural, professional, municipal, state, or civil organization that is registered and operates in Slovakia, works for the benefit of the Hungarian community in Slovakia, feels responsible for the development of the community, and is committed to implementing consensus-based decisions in its activities, can participate in the Roundtable’s work. The Roundtable convenes at least once a year in the form of a professional conference, while its activities in the interim periods are coordinated by the Coordination Committee. All decisions within the Roundtable are made on a consensus basis. The institution has also established a legal aid service, providing legal assistance related to minority issues. Additionally, they maintain an interactive Slovak-language portalaimed at dismantling stereotypes and prejudices against Hungarians in Slovakia and improving Slovak-Hungarian relations. The organizational tasks of the Roundtable are managed by the Forum Minority Research Institute. The spokesperson communicates the Roundtable’s positions.
