HUNINEU – Foundation for the European Representation of Hungarian National Communities

HUNINEU – Foundation for the European Representation of Hungarian National Communities is an organization created by parties represented in the parliament of Hungary for the purpose of adequately informing the European public and EU institutions of the conditions, plans, and objectives of Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin. The Foundation also works to promote the interests of Hungarian communities abroad. To effectively implement these objectives, the Foundation has, according to the resolution made on 14 September 2007 of the Forum of Hungarian Representatives in the Carpathian Basin (KMKF), the parliamentary dimension of the Hungarian national policy, established the Brussels Office for the European Representation of Hungarian National Communities (HUNINEU Office). The main decision-making body is the Board of Trustees, chaired at all times by the Speaker of the National Assembly. The tasks which serve the Foundation’s purposes will mainly be carried out through the HUNINEU Office in order to provide European Union institutions as well as actors on the diplomatic scene with up to date information on the conditions of Hungarian communities and their aspirations. The Foundation also seeks to reinforce the representation of interests by means of various events to be organized in Brussels, Strasbourg and various Hungarian national communities. Also, it informs the Hungarian institutions and ethnic Hungarian organizations dealing with minority issues of ongoing developments in EU institutions that directly or indirectly affect the situation of Hungarian national policy and may determine national policy directions.
